Hiatus 2014

Many of you will have noticed that there have been no White Noise posts so far this year. I've loved writing the posts for this blog for the last two and a half years, but imminent travel plans mean that the site's content will be suspended until later in the year. This isn't a goodbye forever, and you can keep an eye out for infrequent reviews and features over the next few months here or by following WN on Facebook or Twitter.

2013 was a great year for the site, where we topped 35,000 monthly readers and were featured on The Guardian's music site. 2013 also saw our most popular article to date, a feature on the re-introduction of breakbeats to techno music. Our lists of the year's best albums, EPs, tracks and labels should give readers a lot still to chew, but there are also two new WN mixes for your listening pleasure: Ghosts rounds up some WN's favourite house/techno club jams of 2014, while Afriqua is a mix of our favourite dance tunes produced by, or heavily sampling, African musicians.

All that's left to say is thank you to all the readers for turning a little hobby into a major labour of love (not to mention time). I'm looking forward to getting back to it and featuring more in-depth musical analysis later in the year.

Tom
